The Mill has made a
selection of papers from its collection for conservation, bookbinding
and art applications, to be used in high quality heritage
and time capsule scrapbooking projects where
long life without degradation of the paper is essential.
In this context many
papers were designed to match old books and archives.
The selection is intended
to provide the creator with a wide range of options for background
mounts, the addition of written or drawn images on some papers
and the making of labels and tags. Thus where possible the
original purposes of the papers are outlined.
The papers are all manufactured
from acid free natural fibres, principally virgin cotton, hemp
and linen and where appropriate these are buffered with calcium
carbonate against pollution and acidic degradation. Coloured
papers, for the most part when the colour is not resulting from
the fibres, make use of lightfast pigments.
Unless stated to be
laid (ingres) style all papers are wove.
Each paper is available
in the following standard sizes: 12 x
12 , 8 x 8, and 6 x 6 inches.
